Study 11: New Creation

Study 11: New Creation

The last part of the story of the Bible is the part that has not happened yet; the return of Jesus, the final judgment and the restoration of creation. While this is promised throughout the Bible, in the book of Revelation we are given an exciting and poetic description of it. The book of Revelation records the vision God gave to a man named John to encourage and strengthen Christian communities who were facing persecution because of their allegiance to King Jesus, rather than to the ruler of the Roman Empire. The book uses a lot imagery and metaphors to ‘reveal’ the reality of what is happening and what God will do in response. A lot of the imagery in Revelation is taken from the Old Testament.

While Revelation can be difficult to understand, it is well worth the time it takes to understand what is going on, because it provides such a rich and vibrant picture of how God is going to finally undo sin and evil from his creation that he loves.
